What to bring to your Medicare review

Before the appointment

Your red, white and blue Medicare cardOr the letter from Social Security with your Part A and Part B start dates. The cards for any plan you have nowMedicare Advantage, supplement, drug plan, or coverage from a job or retirement. Letters from your current planEspecially the Annual Notice of Change that arrives each fall. It shows what's changing next year. Any Extra Help or Medicaid lettersThese can change which plans and costs are open to you.

Your doctors and drugs

A list of your doctorsPrimary care and every specialist, with the practice name and city. Include anyone you'd want to see in the future. Every prescription you takeName, strength and how often. Bringing the bottles works too. Your pharmacyWhere you fill prescriptions now, and whether you use mail order. Your hospitalThe hospital system you'd want to use, such as Lexington Medical Center, Prisma Health or MUSC.

Things to think about

What you can comfortably pay each monthFor premiums, plus how you feel about copays when you use care. Travel plansTime out of state each year, or a second home. Some plans only cover care close to home. Upcoming careA planned surgery, new diagnosis or new prescription you know is coming. Your questionsWrite them down so nothing gets missed.
